Removed Stove top

I removed my stove top to clean the burners and remove the debris from cooking on the stove. However now I can seem to replace it back securely. there are two metal rods on the side with hooks at the end and I'm not sure where they go? in the slots on the sides? Please let me know

I am assuming that you didn't force the top up. If it came up easily, possibly with a little snap, then it should go back down the same way. It is possible that the clips that snap it in place came loose and it so doesn't snap closed.

The rods, I suspect, are support rods that hold the top up while work is being done on the stove.
