my system is getting switched on only when i disconnect power cable of my hard disk.when hard disk is connected, system is getting switched on and within 1-2 seconds it is getting switched off. moreover mine is new hard disk, just i month ago i bought it. please tell, what exactly the problem is.

That's strange. There are a few things you can try to see if you can narrow the problem down.
1. Try a different power connector for the hard drive.
2. Make sure the data cable to the drive is installed correctly - it may be backwards. Make sure it is properly seated on both ends too.
3. Try booting with power connected to the drive, but NO data cable.
4. Is there another device on the same data cable as the hard drive? If so, check your jumper settings to make sure one is slave, and the other is master. I am assuming this is an ATA drive and not SATA.
If the system comes up OK with the power connected to the drive, but no data cable, then try this. Boot the computer, and going into the BIOS setup. Then go into the screen that has the definitions of the IDE devices. Change the configuration for your hard drives to AUTO, then save settings and reboot.
