GE Washer Problem

Newer Model GE Washer.
Makes a terrible clicking sound when trying to spin.
Moter seems to "time out// overheat then tries again in a few minutes.
Clothes are spinning but not for long as cycle seems to time out.

I am guessing clutch but there is no build up of powder uner the moter and blet is in great shape.

Your model may use a method of transferring power from the motor to the spin drum using a motor coupler (http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/washer/check/coupler.php). Fllow the link for information on inspection.

Clutches doesn't usually wear out so quickly, and you siad it was newer model. It could be the clutch, but it wouldn't be my first bet.

I have the same problem on my GE profile washer...but when I went looking for the motor coupler, I found a belt. what was the outcome?
