I Have A Maytag Model Mhs 2000 Aww Washing Machine, Serial # 44525286 Ww. Style # Y0000000.

It Makes An Incredibley Loud Noise When Spinning. Not A Knocking Noise But A High Pitched Squeel Or Whistling Noise. It Is Not Out Of Balance And Is Not "walking". THE MACHINE IS STILL WORKING JUST FINE, EXCEPT FOR THE NOISE. This Noise Can Be Heard Throughout The Entire House.

Since It Has A Dryer On Top, I Don't Want To Unstack Them Unnecessarily Just To Find Out That I Didn't Need To.

Any Ideas?

I Would Appreciate Any Information.

Thanks, Bjr

A Lot Of Good This Site Is If There Is Not A Response to a post.

Sometimes you get a quick response, sometimes you don't. This is an all-volunteer board. The good folks here answering questions and troubleshooting for other people do so because they enjoy helping others and enjoy problem solving, not because they are paid.

So, that said...if you check on the AcmeHowTo.com site, there's a troubleshooting for washing machines here (http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/washer/diagwasher.php).

Down towards the bottom of the page is a section talking about noisy washers that are still working. Sounds like it could be a belt, assuming your model has one.

My experience with these things is that something's going to fail in your washer based on your description of the noise. It may be worth taking a look at now before that happens.
