Refrigerator Placement

I want to buy a new refrigerator for a craft room niche beside built-ins that I recently remodeled. I do not want to pull up the carpet but rather put the refrigerator on the carpet. It is a burbur carpet. Is it a problem to put it on carpet directly? If so, is it better to put down a piece of plywood first? Or somehow build a 'shelf' a couple inches off the floor or ???

I'd recommend placing a piece of 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch plywood under the fridge. However, I don't think you'd have too much problem by putting it on the carpet. The two chief problems are moisture (there is always moisture with a fridge) and that it would be difficult to move after it has set on the carpet for a long time.
