View Full Version : GE side-by-side fridge has become noisy
My GE side-by-side refrigerator/freezer has started to make a rumbling noise. The noise occurs when the unit cycles on. It appears the noise is coming primarily from the bottom part of the unit on the refrigerator side. The freezer fan is running at the time. Other than the noise, it seems to be running OK. The noise is a steady "buh buh buh buh buh buh...".
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

It could be your compressor wearing out making that noise. In that case I would let it run until it quit before fixing it. OR it could be your condensor fan which is located near the compressor where you say the noise is coming from. I would get access to the area by moving the fridge out enough and removing the cardboard shielding. You should be able to feel a vibration on the fan or the compressor. The fan is fairly easy to replace. The compressor is major. You'll need a repairman.
