I have an upright Frigidaire freezer that's no longer working. It's about 5 years old. The compressor runs and the thermostat is good. Where do I go from here??

Thanks, Jack

More! More! Give me More! Do you hear any fans running. Does it cool any in the freezer. Are the condensor coils warm under the fridge. The more information the better.

The circulating fan (inside compartment) runs. There are no coils under the freezer, Iguess because its an upright freezer. What happened was the freezer was given by my brother-in-law, and it had quit running then (2 mos. ago). I took out the interior panel to get to the thermostat to check it and its okay. The fan at the top rear (circulating) was also working. I've let it run anywhere fron 5 to 10 hours and there is no cooling. Actually the interior get a little warm.

I guess the coils are mounted on the back of the freezer. If the compressor is working properly these coils will be warm and the coils inside (could be the shelves themselvs) or behind the back panel- should be cold. If the compressor is running without cooling then it is out of freon.
