A friend of mine sent me the email below with a problem with her dryer.
I suggested she check the troubleshooting section here. Anyone see anything that jumps out as the potential problem(s)?

"Whether we have it on timed or where it senses whether
it's dry or not... either way there's no heat 95% of
the time. When it's suppose to sense if the stuff is
dry, that cycle never stops. It just stays where you
set it. (it used to progress and end). The knob moves
on the timed cycles, but if it's not actually heating
up, it may take 5 or 6 drying cycles to dry, and
that's with taking out jeans or towels to speed the
process along."

Thanks for your advice,

Bob

Since it occurs on both timed and sensor dry cycles, focus on the drying components. You didn;t mention if it was gas or electric, but the trouvleshooting section describes what to check.

First check that the dryer vent is clear end to end. That is a very common cause of the problem described. See the troubleshooter for more possibilities.
