Top shelf is frozen bottom is warm

I have a 1980ish Frigidaire upright freezer. It has worked well for all of these years. My wife recently shut it off to defrost it. When we turned it back on, only the top shelf is freezing, the remaining shelves are not.

Any ideas?

I would make sure I've waited long enough to be sure the other shelves aren't going to freeze. If it doesn't work I believe it is probably low on freon. A leak could have developed while defrosting. If so it will get worse and all freon will leak out.
