I have a Kenmore Elite washing machine that I purchased in July. Lately, it has started leaking when it is not in use. The leak appears to be coming from under the machine. There is no wetness at the faucet or at the hose connecting the machine to the drain. What would cause that kind of leak?

You've got the drain hose that would keep water in it between washes. It is connected to the pump. There could be water in the pump also. I would remove the back and attempt to trace the leak by seeing where it falls on the floor.

Most probably the pump is leaking. Remove the control panel screws and tilt it back.Remove the spring clips holding the case on the frame, unplug lid switch wires and remove the case.
Check pump for leaks.

If you purchased it new, I would call Sears as it is under warranty.

Thank you woodchuck, richapplyguy and esquire. All good advice. I am going to call Sears as esquire suggested but, I wanted to make sure I was armed with some knowledge beforehand.
