Maytag/Magic Chef Frig Trips GFCI

I have a Magic Chef refrigerator Model CTB1521ARW. Recently, the refrigerator trips the GFCI. It seems to occur when the refrigerator either goes into or comes out of it's defrost cycle. If I unplug the refrigerator and let it sit for an hour, then plug it back in, it will run fine for about 12 hours and then trip the GFCI again. I've tried this several times and it occurs almost exactly every 12 hours. I'm thinking it's a problem with the defrost timer, but not sure where to begin. Suggestions?

You probably have a wire grounding out.
Might want to check the plug for any significant ohms to case ground.
Also the pro's say not to plug in any refrigerator into a ground fault outlet.
