I have a GE Washer (one of the new larger ones that holds a queen size comforter. I finally called the repair place because I can't figure it out. The tub would turn but wouldn't drain the water out or spin. Then the controls wouldn't work right. Right now I have a load of wet clothes in it fullof water. The door is locked and won't unlock. It also hums when you have it plugged in. We unplugged it to get it to quit humming. Any ideas?

I've repaired two smaller but similar models and found in both that there was something stuck in the pump impeller that would not allow the pump to turn and drain. The washers were also making a humming noise because of this problem. There should be a panel on the front at the bottom which if you can remove, will allow you to get to the drain pump. make sure you unplug first and prepare yourself to catch the water when you disconnect the rubber drain hoses which are connected to the pump. good luck.
Eddie.

Just had the washer repaired. The drain is large enough in these that the pump was stopped up with two pins from jackets, change, a sock and a nylon knee high and other dirt. The repairman suggested getting one of the laundry bags to put small items in such as socks and underwear(especially children's).
