We have had a lot of trouble with a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator. The most recent problem is that the back of the freezer keeps freezing up and prevents the refrigerator from cooling. The repairman has replaced a circuit board in the top of the refrigerator side twice and it looks like the problem is comming back. Any suggestions?

I don't know what the circuit board does but your problem sounds like a component of your auto defroster isn't working. Defrost timer, defrost heater, or defrost thermostat. You can turn the heater on by turning the timer to the defrost cycle and see if the heaters come on. click here for troubleshooting help. Need the model # to check, probably the adaptive defrost module was replaced.
You might have something shorting causing the module to blow out.
You can initiate defrost by disconnecting fridg from power for at least 30 seconds, turn cold control off, reconnect power, the adc should turn on the defrost heater. If this fails you have a bad ADC or a bad defrost circuit.
