2 Panasonic Genius Micro same failure

Both purchased same day, failed same day 3+ years later.

Symptom: Run for 6/7 seconds then shut off.

No noticeable power spikes/brownout.

Really weird that they failed within minutes of each other. Separate power supplys (outlets and circuit breakers)

Any ideas?

Since I don't believe there is a conspiracy for all Panasonic products to expire after a preset number of days, I suspect the most likely cause was a power surge.

I'm not sure what would cause it run for a few seconds. I'd expect it to operate or not operate.

Was anything new introduced? New cooking plates, new cleaning fluid, anything?
