Can a refrigerator that is going bad cause power surges or spikes in electrical wiring to other outlets or other appliances :)

When a compressor is beginning to go bad it can cause lights to dim and I'm sure it could affect other appliances as well. If it's hard enough to start it can trip the breaker.

Power line surges and spikes come from contactor chatter at the power substation, lightning strikes, or defective power pole transformer.
Modern refrigerators with a ptc relay and klixon overload as a rule don't put spikes on the home wiring. They can dim the lights a bit, or pop the breaker.
It is allways a good idea to use a surge protector on a refrigerator with electronics.
