matag dryer motor buzzing

Hi,I am hoping I can narrow down my problem.My stack matag dryer will only buzz when I push start-the drum is not bound up in any way and the belt is fine.Its either the motor or is there a starter on the motor that could be bad? One time the motor actuallly tried to move for a split second then just the same humming. This thing is about 18 years old but I think is worth trying to fix.Thanks for any help.

model #Lse1000-series 7. I put it all back together so my wife can use the washer but the pressure is on as she wants to go buy all new.I do'nt know how long I can hold out!
