I just replced the water solinoid valve and the icemaker its self,my question is how long should it take before the valve opens to put water into the ice tray.the freezer was shut off for about a half an hour the new solinoid makes a noise but doesnt send any water upto the icemaker or fill the water bin.I checked the water line coming in and I have water to the solinoid

I always put water in the ice maker manually to get the cycle started. When it dumps what I put in the solenoid then fills it up again.

If a side/side fridge you can swap the water and icemaker connections on the water solenoid and press the water lever in front to check for water into the icemaker, if not just wotwire the solenoid and check for water flow to icemaker.
