Kenmore 70 series electric dryer MODEL NUMBER 110.96575100 will only run for about 5 minutes and then shuts itself off. Does the same thing no matter which cycle I try it in. It will start up again when I push the start switch again, and run for a few minutes more and stop again.

I'm at a total loss here.

Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the motor is overheating and cutting out on internal overload but usually takes a few minutes to restart. A indication of bad start windings/bearings is an unusually loud motor noise at startup. Please post results otherwise you may just have an intermittant connection somewhere!

It does seem to have an unusually loud motor noise at the start. I think I have an identical motor that I took out of one I scrapped. I'll try an exchange and see what happens. I'll post my results. Thanks richapplyguy. :)
