My washer just quit on me in the middle of a wash cycle. There is still power to it and it will start filling, but it will not go past the fill stage. It just sounds like it wants to do something, but it can't.Any help would be great.
P.S. when I discovered that it quit on me the tub was still full and will not drain.

GOT BELT. Check to see if the belt is broken or slipping. Inspect belt (http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/washer/check/belt.php)

You have a direct drive washer with a motor coupler. Will need to pull outside panel and remove motor. Coupler goes between the motor and transmision
Please post results like is the washer making noise like a turning motor.

when I put it on a cycle (spin, rinse),it just makes a humming noise like it wants to turn on.
Would I be able to intstall coupler myself?
If I'm able to remove the motor, then I should right?
Thanks for any help

I just removed the motor and inspected the coupler and it seems fine.
Could it be anything else?

Is it possible that the pump is blocked or stuck? Is this one of the models that uses the pump to recirculate water during the wash cycle and if the pump is stuck it can't do it, and if it can't run it shuts the washer down? Just sort of thinking out loud here.
