I have a bathtub faucet that is spitting air, water and rusty water. It is particularly bad when the hot water is turned on. It doesn't happen with any other faucet in the house. I am clueless as to where to start with a repair.

Someone suggested snaking out the faucet and pipe. I guess I don't really understand what could be obstructing the pipe.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

When water lines coming to your house have been turned off for repair somewhere down the road they get air in the line which goes down all the water lines stirring up any sediment and mud which may be in the lines. The air can also stir up the sediment in the bottom of your water heater. Once the air is out the water should settle back down and be normal.
