Hello, my husband and I want to insulate our home. It is a very old home (over 100 years). We recently had insulation blown into our attic. We have replaced just about all the windows, and now want to have insulation blown into the walls. We have contacted the contractor to blow the insulation in, however my brother told me that we should make sure that the insulation has some kind of glue in it so it doesn't settle after the instalation. Can you suggest for us a specific type of insulation?

If they use a cellulose insulation, it will flow past any obstructions and fill the space and settling shouldn't be an issue. Of course you should ask your contractor.

Glue? Never heard of that. The cellulose is shredded newspaper with fire retardant added.
Your biggest concern should be knowing if there are fire blocks inside your wall otherwise, the insulation will not fill the wall stud cavities.

when I had insulation blown in the guys would push on the interior wall so wall would fill up and not push the wall out. They had a lot of pressure pushing in the insulation. they didn't lean on one wall and the drywall cracked. So pressure is high enough to fill the wall if there are no obstructions
