I believe either the pump or timer motor (I think that's what it's called) is bad on my Kenmore dishwasher. How can I tell which it is? The dishwasher filled, and the timer knob on the front moves, but the motor isn't running, and the water never drained.
Thanks!

Any noises at all, like a motor trying to turn?

Thanks for your response.
No sound at all, once the machine fills. If I manually turn the timer knob, I can hear the usual clicking, and the bang when the detergent door opens, but nothing else.

Need model # to help. You can take the kick panel off and look at the motor. If the motor is sort of flat, you might have something stuck in the pump. If round and mounted sideways, it's a sidewinder. If so, turn the motor shaft by sticking a screwdiver into the motor end. Turn till it becomes unstuck.

Success!!! The motor was stuck. I turned it with a screwdriver, and whatever was holding it broke free. Now it's running fine.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?

Thanks so much!

The ceramic seal in the pump tends to stick if the dishwasher is not used for awhile.
