Amana electric clothes dryer Model LEA50Aw.s\n 990729437. I took out the timer motor for inspection and a spring wire that works with the 2 pawls that drives the large gear for switching ,flew to the floor.How should I procced To put it back? In what position does it goes IN the casing. Your help will be appreciated.

Sounds like a washer timer, no dryer timer has a spring! Try to send a picture of it.

Rich, I looked up the model number and it is a dryer. The complete number would be this. LEA50AW (BOM: PLEA50AW) Unfortunatly it doesn't have a pic of the timer. I've never tried taking one apart myself. :D

It is not an spiral or circular type spring but an straight piece of springly wire about 3.5 in.long. It keeps tension on one of the pawls that drives the large gear that does the switching action inside the timer.It is supposed to go below the motor.
I have tried several ways to put it back at no avail.

Sounds like a contact leaf spring. Probably broke off=new timer time.
