I am having a problem with a Kenmore upright freezer. Model # 253.9284212. I had the problem a few weeks ago and I noticed it had ice build-up on the bottom. I cleaned it out and it was working fine until this morning when I saw alot of water on the floor. Now it's blowing cold air again. The items that we had inside had pretty much melted but whenever I open it it's blowing cold air. I'm thinking it could be the thermostat. The unit is only about 6-7 years old.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like an intermittant defrost thermostat, just defrost evaporator coils and replace.

richapplyguy is there any way to test it? Any other possibilities? I did a ohm test on the temp control and I turned out fine.

Thanks

Allways a good idea to change the defrost control, they are a very common problem. Also replace the defrost timer as they can become intermittant also.
