I have a Frigidaire thru the door ice maker. When on ice cube setting, it drops a ton of ice down really fast. It even overflows the largest of cups. I have tried pulsing the button, etc. No good, when the ice comes down, way too many drop in a split second.

To get by, we leave it on crushed because it dispenses at a slower rate. But I really want cubes, not crushed all the time.

Is there a way to slow down the ice cube rate?

Does it continue to dispense the ice at the high rate or is it just at the beginning. If so, maybe the dispenser door is closing while the ice is still sliding down and traps the ice until you get more ice and all that trapped ice falls out at once. That door is supposed to delay closing to let the ice finish coming out.

It is continuous, it'll dump out the entire basket in no time if you let it.
