My refrigerator seems to be getting warmer and warmer. A couple of days ago I found that the freezer door had been sligtly ajar for possibly 12 hours. (Stuff in the bottom was defrosting. Stuff at the top was okay.)

Could I have burned out something? The freezer is still working fine, but the frig seems to be getting constantly warmer, even though I adjusted the temperature to make it colder.

I just unplugged for a few minutues and replugged and am waiting to see if that helps. I can hear it running, but not sure what it is I hear.

Thanks for any help.

I currently have a similar problem with my Whirlpool ED25RFXFW01 side by side. The fridge side kept getting warmer, so i pulled out the fridge, cleaned the dust from the bottom evaporator coils, replugged it in, pulled off the sheet metal behind the freezer wall and no ice build up and the fan is running. The freezer is darn cold, but air doesn't move into the fridge UNLESS I open the freezer door. So when i hold my hand up to the top vent, with the freezer door closed, there is nothing coming through. When i crack the freezer open a little, cold air flows nicely. I'd think something was plugging something up or blocking, excluding food, because there's little left after all the warming. Seems like a vacuum lock between the two compartments. The wife is threatening with a new fridge purchase, hopefully i can get this problem resolved. thanks in advance. G

Maybe behind the plastic panels covering the fan and ductwork to the fridge.
Look for blockages such as ice or disconnected ductwork.
