I having trouble remove the nut to pull the tub on a Kenmore 110.28892790.
Is this nut right hand or left hand? and is there a special tool used to remove the nut?
Thanks for any help.

I got the nut off and the reason for taking it off was too see if I could find out what's causing the grinding noise. It sounds like a bad starter on an automobile with the battery almost dead,
. Anyone that can enlighten me on what might be the problem would be appreciated. It only makes this noise in the spin cycle. what ever is causing the noise doesn't seem to affect the speed of the spin. It's just a very annoying sound.
Thanks

I vote for worn out clutch pads if it has a clutch. Look under the washer on the floor. If you see a gray powder (metal shavings) it's the clutch.

Pull the motor off and turn the coupler clockwise. If hard to turn, you have something stuck in the tub, or dragging brake shoes. Pull basket and check.

Can't pull the basket, it's stuck and I don't have a tool such as a bearing puller to aid in the removal.

I see what looks to be a very small amount of black dust, I'm talking a few grams of dust. When I rub it between my fingers it appears to be soot.

Put the spin basket nut on half way, pull up on one side of the basket and pond down with a hammer on the other side, spin basket now will be easy to pull off.
Check for something in tub.
If not, pull tranny out and pry down the brake shoes and check for broken brake spring or bad clutch.
