I live in a condo complex that was converted from apartments to condos. The main water shut off controls water for both my unit and the unit next door. The lady next door to me frequently shuts the water off for minor plumbing repairs in her unit. I just want to know if this action has the potential to cause any damage or other headaches in my unit. For example, it seems like when the water is shut off, the pipes fill with air. Is this a problem? Thanks for your help.

I suppose it could break any sediment loose and clog any strainers you have on your faucets like in the kitchen where there is usually an aerator. Sediment could also cause a water inlet valve to leak or stick on fridge, washer, dishwasher. But especially if it's done regularly it shouldn't cause a problem
