The following is a reprint from our Ask the Expert feature on AcmeHowTo.com (http://www.AcmeHowTo.com)
Question: 4 yr. old Maytag Model MDB2400AWZ
Symptom: Water flows into tub until water supply is shut-off, even with power off. When power is on, fills with door open or closed, dial turned to Off position, flooding kitchen. Checked Float, moves freely. Checked Float Switch. Checked Drain Valve, springs in place, solenoid resistence 33 ohms. Checked Inlet Valve. Solenoid measures .9 ohms, normal?? Was not open. Does this sound like a bad Inlet Valve?
Answer: It is a bad inlet valve. The resistance you measured is not correct for this valve. Even if the solenoid tests okay, the valve can still be stuck open. Replace the valve (http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/dishwasher/repair/inletvalve.php).
