I have a Kenmore washing machine Model No. 110-92581210. When I try to run a cycle, it fills up with water and agitates correctly. However, when it reachs the part of the cycle when it is supposed to drain, it just hums and I smell something hot. I immediately stop the cycle. I have checked the lid switch and it works correctly. I have checked the drain hoses and everthing is clear. I have taken the direct drive water pump off and it is not jammed and everything looks in good shape. What could the problem be?

You either have something jamming the spin basket, a jammed tranny, or jammed brake shoes.
Shine a bright lite in the spin basket and look for something jammed, if ok, I would pull the tranny and turn the coupler clockwise, if it jams, you have a bad tranny.
If everything ok, check the motor connector pins and look for a loose pin. If you have a meter, you can check the motor pins for correct voltages per the schematic. It's also possible your motor bearings have failed.
