why does water stand in the bottom of my dishwasher after finishing the whole wash cycle

Some clean water in the bottom is normal. It's water that was still in the drain when the pump turned off. The water keeps the seals in the bottom from drying out and cracking and leaking. If it's dirty or just too much water check out your drain to make sure it's clear.
