My washer won't spin or agitate. I am having trouble getting the agitater out. I know it comes out, I've had it out to replace a round part that the teeth were worn off about two years ago. I just can't remember how I did it. Also, the front of the washer should just pop off if I raise the top up? Right? I hope someone can help me, my husband is in the hospital for surgery. Great time for this to happen, huh. Thank you.

To pop off the front panel, push in a putty knife at the clips near each side of the top and pop off. Select spin and tell us what happens, you might just need a new belt.
Use a rope around the bottom of the agitator, and a 2x4 on the top to pry off the agitator.

I got the front panel off. The belt looks fine, the motor should run when water is draining, shouldn't it? It isn't.

Is the washer full of water?

No. The water drains fine, it just doesn't spin or agitate. I still can't get the agitater off. It runs through all the cycles.

You probably have an open motor thermal cutout, will need a meter to confirm.

That sounds really involved, I don't do motors. My husband came home today from major surgery and my son in-laws are not handymen in the least. Looks like I'll be looking for a new washer. I was hoping for an easy fix, thanks for your kind replies.
