My little Kenmore top-loading portable washer was being overworked today and it just will not start up anymore. It usually lights 3 LED lights when it boots up, but now it does nothing. I tested the electrical outlet and this is fine.

I bought this machine in 1995 and it has been used for only 2 years, so it is a fairly new unit, I guess. I appreciate your suggestions on how to fix this thing. Thanks.

there should be 8 digits in the model number, you only have 7

Here are some pictures to illustrate the washer I am talking about. The model number is as I mentioned before, here is a picture of the decal.

The washer began to work OK after I left it alone for a few days. It appears that my wife put a lot of soap in it and the bubbles may have had affected the electrical parts. It worked fine after it had time to dry up all the bubbles from the soap that went all over the inside of the unit.

Now, I have a new problem....The washer just takes in water and never stops and it begins to overflow and flood my place, no matter which water setting I use. I flipped it on its side and it looks like 3 of the 4 elastic bands that act as shock-absorbers to center the drum have snapped off. There is only one elastic band in place now. I do not know that this may be what is causing the flooding. Any ideas?

This may be a similar model:Kenmore 11026702691 (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/retrieveModelAction!retrieve.action?modelNumber=11026702691)

Check the air pressure tube on the water level switch inside the CONTROL PANEL.
If it's disconnected, it won't stop filling.

The suspension parts are shown in the MACHINE BASE.

Thank you for your reply.

Yesterday, I found a clear plastic hose that was disconnected in the unit, the other side was still attached to the drain on the drum. I think that I attached it into the wrong place as this might be the "air pressure tube" that needs to connect to the water level control. The tube probably came lose with the rough ride the unit is getting in the spin cycle after the suspension parts snapped. I will try to hook it up to the water level dial when I get home tonight.

As for the suspension parts, ....the parts I need look like a 1/2 in wide rubber band that has a little hollow cylinder at each end. The model you suggested above seems to be different. I think that I am going to run some bungee cords in there to stabilize the drum.

I ended up buying four 10" bungee cords that I placed at the top part of the drum, each attached to two adjacent support rods and it all centered nicely. I connected the air tube to its proper location and secured it with a hose clamp, just in case. All seems to be working as it should.

Thank you RegUS for all your help. My wife had given up and she was already shopping for a new unit. I managed to delay this major purchase for later time.
