Question: Hello...I have a sears side-by-side refrigerator...I replaced the water inlet valve due to refrigerator ice maker not making ice. The ice maker now makes ice, but the in-door water dispenser starts dispensing water after the refrigerator is turned on for about 15-20 minutes by itself spilling water on the floor. Is the water dispenser switch bad? I have checked that the connections at the water valve are correct. The water dispenser didn't have a problem until the water valve was replaced and I have tried replacing the water valve two times...thanks

Answer: The ice maker signals for water when it cycles. It sounds as though maybe the valve that controls the water to the door is also being signaled. Does the door leak when the icemaker cycles? Also, is the icemaker making ice? If yes to the first and no to the second, then it sounds like you switched the wiring connections when it was installed.

But since you mentioned that you already checked the connections, then next I'd ask you to disconnect the wires to the door water valve and wrap each, separately with electrical tape and then run the fridge to see if the problem still occurs. The valve has no power and so no water should come through the door. If it does, then I'd say you hooked the wrong water line to the wrong valve.
