I have a Kenmore Electric Dryer Model number 110.96575100 that keeps shutting itself off. It will only run for a minute or so and then shuts off. Any idea what would be causing it? I have disconnected the dryer vent thinking that perhaps it was a clogged exhaust vent but it doesn't make any difference. :(

is the air-flow good out the back vent ?

does the drum keep turning and only the heat stops ?

if you try to start it right away, will it start right away ?

Yes it is.

No, the drum stops too, but the timer continues to click.

No, it needs time to cool down. [/QUOTE]

More info.

If I run it in automatic it needs to be manually re-started in about 30 minutes. If I run it in timed mode, it will re-start on it's own when it has cooled enough.

it could be a bad motor.
try running it on a "no heat" cycle to see if the motor stops after a few minutes.

The dryer ran through on both the no heat and regular heat cycle tonight. However, the dryer is running without me having to push the start button. All I have to do is turn the left knob where you set dry time and it starts up. Sometimes I may have to turn the knob to a few different places before the dryer will start to run continuously.
