My hot water heater stopped making hot water. It only makes luke warm water. It is only 4 months old. There was a thunder storm could that have caused a problem. Please help

Is it an electric water heater? If so, then an electrical storm may have damaged one of the heating coils or the thermostat. Both are replacable.
