Hotpoint dishwasher ...

..... model HDA2000G02BB had a melted solenoid which I replaced. That solenoid then melted. Yesterday I not only replaced the solenoid again, but I replaced the timer. I viewed the solenoid operation as I ran the dishwasher for about 2 hours. The solenoid operated successfully, however, I am not sure if the following is normal. The plunger was very hot to the touch/ the plunger hesitated for up to 5 sec to be raised/the plunger hesitated up to 5 sec half way up.

make sure the flapper moves freely..

...you can check it... (with) your meter onto the solenoid input the power to the solenoid should be around 20 seconds. The solenoid is pulled down and then the water pressure holds the flapper closed so the solenoid is not powered for the entire pump cycle
