I have a older audio surround receiver that lacks HDMI switching. The Audio performance is outstanding and I did not want to dump it for a new HDMI switching receiver. However, I have 3 HDMI sources: HD Cable Box, Blu Ray Player and Apple TV that I want to connect to the HDTV ( only 1 HDMI input).
and connect to my surround sound audio system.
After asking the sales at Best Buys and Circuit City, who were not very knowledgeable and only willing to try to sell me more equipment. I ran across this device , http://octavainc.com/HDMI%20switch%204port_toslink.htm and got it in last week and it solved my problem!
Essentially , I connect all HDMI sources and the Digital Audio to the switch box and run it to my Audio system . Now I converted my audio receiver into a HDMI switching receiver!
I am sure others have similar connections issues with the new HD equipment.
