Hi: Maytag LDG5005ABE gas dryer.
The ignitor went at Christmas, I replaced it myself, taking precautions not to touch the filament. It just went again this week. The part supply guy insists that I must have touched or damaged it in some way during installation, or that there might be a vibration issue in the machine that caused the burn out of the ignitor. He says, if the ignitors just burns out, it indicates only an ignitor issue and not a sensor or other problem.
Should I just go ahead and install and new ignitor or do I have a bigger problem?
Thanks

does it glow at all ?

is it cracked or broken ?

or just open resistance on the ohm meter ?

The ignitor has a break in it, much the same as it did at christmas.
I have not measured any electrical readings.
When I first replaced it at Christmas, it would glow and ignite, no problem, and it has done this up until last week, when the ignitor filament broke again.

you could try another ignitor, $27 isn't bad, oven ignitors are $75 - $100 or more
