We just moved into a place that has an existing refrigerator, but it looks like it's getting pretty old. The landlord told us that it worked good for the person that lived here previously. What is happening is basically it's accumulating frost pretty quickly,I think it may be due to a loose gasket or whatever the thing is called that keeps the door closed. Mechanically the fridge works fine, but is this part easy to replace? Of course I ask this because we probably can't afford another one right now.

The door seals would result in inadequate cooling, long compressor un times and increase frost.
The door seals can be replaced. Some are more difficult than others. If you inspect you door seals you can roll them away from the door where they attach and you should be able to see the fasteners that secure them to the door.
When installing the new door seal, lay it out on th efloor or in the sun in the postion it is to be installed. This lets the bends relax out of it.
Afer installing, you may need to loosen the hinges and adjust the door a bit, then retighten the hinges. Otherwise the door may not close properly.
