Washing Machine Spin tub always spinning

Hi there, have a GE Profile Washing machine that I think is having a problem. When washing a load of clothes, the spin basket rotates almost as fast as the rinse cycle, which I don't think is a good thing.

Any advice would be appreciated. The unit is about 8 years old.
