Hi All,
I have an LG double door fridge/freezer which is leaking underneath. I took the grille off the back bottom and found that the drip pan was over flowing. I further narrowed the problem down to the water line for the water dispenser.
The water supply enters the appliance at what looks like a small manifold. This seems to supply water to the water dispenser and the ice-maker. The line for the ice maker goes up the outside and enters the top of the freezer. The line for the water dispenser enters the lower part of the freezer. It is 1/4 nylon tubing and this tubing seems to be run inside 1/2" ribbed plastic tubing. The tubes exit the front of the freezer below the door where there is a quick-connect coupling to another 1/4" tube which goes up inside the door to the dispensing unit.
When the water dispenser is activated, water is dispensed but water also runs out of the 1/2" ribbed tubing at the back. This water falls into the drip pan and it eventually overflows.
I have disconnected the quick coupling at the front and this seems to indicate that the line up to the dispenser is OK. I am a bit reluctant to start pulling the innards apart to see what happens to the 1/2" ribbed tubing and 1/4" nylon tubing once they enter the back of the freezer.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the water to leak out the back ? I am not really sure what happens the line inside the unit.
Thanks in advance.
