I have never encourtered this problem before..please help!!! The water keeps coming out of the cold faucet in shower even when it is fully turned off. I can turn it all the way to off, but it just keeps flowing, not even a slow down in water. I opened up both hot and cold water faucets can not see any problem with valve stems or rings... I am really stumped.. have to have water in whole house turned off right now... any suggestions please help before I have to call out a plumber Thanks so much Teresa

You didn't describe what kind of faucet valve this is, but the problem you describe is almost certainly a failure of replaceable components in the valve. Alternatively, if this is an older faucet, this is a good opportunity to replace the entire unit.

You could just pulls all the parts and replace them all (if one part failed - others might not be far behind). Otherwise, opening the wall, either on the shower side or on the other side will likely be necessary to replace the entire unit. This is something that a confident DIYer could do, although a plumber will get it quicker and with less frustration.

try checking the seat. they are brass if the valve was closed to tight it would damage it. Or get a replacement valve assembly
