Have a Kenmore fridge that is acting up. It basically quit working about a month ago, but the top (freezer) is cool (but not cold or freezing by any stretch of the imagination), so we have been making do with it.
The serviceman who dropped in to check it out feels it's the compressor.
However, the other day, when I was out of town (naturally), the Mrs. says that it started working again. It froze everything in the freezer, and she moved some stuff down to the fridge.
Then, about 24 hours later, it reverted to its former self.
If the problem is truly the compressor, would it have suddenly started to work again?
I'm thinking its a faulty relay, but I don't have a multitester to check it.
Any ideas? I don't want the guy to hose me into a new compressor if it doesn't need it.
