I have a GE dishwasher that works okay until the end of the cycle, when it doesn't drain completely. It leaves water standing in the bottom. It does drain the water -- but not all the way down.
I've taken the screening thing off and cleaned out where it drians down into the drain tube.
And ideas here?

There should be just a slight amount of water left in the dishwasher, but not much that you should be able to see a lot of in the bottom of the tub. I'm sort of new in the appliance repair "business" and I'm learning as I go, but if there is quite a bit of water left in the tub after the cycle is finished, it might be a little timer switch that is attached to the push buttons (pots/pans or something like that). I would contact a qualified appliance repair person to evaluate this problem. If the dishwasher is a low to mid quality and you've owned it for 10 years or more, I would replace it as it would be cost ineffective to repair (unless it was a really cheap part). Hope this helps.

Some water is normal. If it is excessive, then it could related to a timed drain cycle. The time should be adequate to drain the tub. So, I'd check the drain line all the way to the sink drain to make sure you don't have a partial clog, slowing down the draining of the DW.
