Hi
We have a Maytag Washing Machine Model # MAV-7200 that will not drain out the water after the wash cycle. This problem is very intermittent and will drain out properly for 20 or so loads then go 2 or 3 loads without draining, when this happens you can reset the timer to spin and it will drain out OK. My wife has had two service repairmen look at the machine and naturally they can't seem to recreate the problem.
I finally told the wife not to call anyone and I would fix it. Well now after taking the thing apart several times it's still not fixed.
The things that I have done so far are remove the drain hoses and checked for blockage, checked the drain pump for blockage and inspected the impeller, checked all pulleys and belt for wear and slipping, made sure the motor moves freely on its mounts, checked the lid switch with an ohm meter numerous times, watched everything work with the front cover off.
Wife thinks the timer is bad because on one occasion she wiggled the timer when it did not start to drain and it worked. Well after having a volt ohmmeter hooked to about every circuit and the thing working every time I have it apart I am ready to use the shotgun method. If anyone out there had use of my gun which part would you change?
Update: After putting up the above note the machine worked until this week. Not fixed yet but when the machine finishes the wash cycle it won't go into spin unless we open and close the lid then it spins the water out??
Thanks for any suggestions
