Hi,
I have a shower/bath with a three way diverter to the shower. When I fully turn the diverter valve to bring water to the shower, it works, but also keeps too much water flowing out of the bath faucet. How does one adjust the valve so it fully does an "either/or" to the shower or bath.

On a personal note this does not bother me so much as it bothers my wife because the bath fills up too much when when we just use the shower. I'm guessing most do-it-yourself projects are spousally motivated.

Some valves have a positive stop for the handle itself. The handle hits the stop and won't go any further, preventign you from opening or a closing a valve all the way. In this case, you can take the handle off, change its position a little and peattach it. Then you can turn the handle further, to fully engage the shower.

Another possibility is the valve, internally, is leaking. For instance an internal component has worn out and allows water to flow past. In this case, you could remove the valve in question and repair the washer, o-ring, disc, or cartridge (depending on type of faucet) to restore proper function.
