I need more details to be more specific, but it could be that you are using a different style keyboard than what the keyboard driver is expecting. I assume you are running on a PC and you are using some form of Microsoft Windows.
What is the alternate (i.e. shifted) character for your 2 key? Typically it IS the @ sign. What else is on your key for the " sign? Typcally it is the single quote sign ' . If your keyboard is different from that, then you are probably using the wrong keyboard driver.
It's possible I didn't understand your question correctly. Another thing to try is to check to see if you have a key stuck -- that can produce strange effects depending upon what key it is.
Please reply back with more details like what kind of keyboard you have and what OS you're using, if the above doesn't help...

Hi Scott.Origionally I had a normal everyday microsoft keyboard but I have just invested in a logitech media one.I am using Windows xp.This was happening with the previous keyboard and the same thing now happening with this.Funnily enough the front of the box has it set out as it is working were as the keyboard has it set out differently which makes me think that somewhere along the line it is poss set up for another country and not the UK.

It sounds like the problem you are having is that your system is running the wrong keyboard driver. For instance, when you had the Microsoft keyboard installed, if the system was running the UK driver, it would explain the output not matching the key labels. Same with the Logitech keyboard.
Did you install the keyboard driver that came with the Logitech keyboard? You should have a CD that came with it. The drivers are also available for download at Logitech's website.

Yes.I had to put the drivers in when I set up the keyboard and they were set correctly.Sorted now.Had to go into control panel, click on regional and language options, click on language then finaly details. This is were you would set up the language for your keyboard. It was set to English /United states rather than English /United kingdom. One to remember in the future.Cheers to all anywhays. :D ;)
