We have an older Amana side-by-side fridge (12+ years). Every now and then lately the milk in the plastic gallon container has been kinda 'freezing'. Not solid, but very icy so we can't use it. Our veggies in the veggie drawers get icy too when this happens. It's not all of the time - every few weeks. I set the dials to midway for the fridge and the freezer, but it's still doing it every now and then. The only thing I can think of is that the freezer is too full? Could that do it ? I have moved all items away from the back fridge vents, but that hasn't helped matters. Ideas? New fridge ?

Thanks - April

You might check to make sure that the baffle that directs cold air from the freezer to the fridge isn't stuck all the way open. The baffle should be controlled by the dial. But I'm not real familiar with the Amana brand. Or it could be a malfunctioning temperature control. 12+ yrs? Hmmm, seems like the fridge is cooling ok, just might need a small repair. I think I would fix or have it repaired, I think you would be $$ ahead going this route. :-)
