The following is a reprint from our Ask the Expert feature on AcmeHowTo.com (http://www.AcmeHowTo.com):
Question: I followed all your diagnositcs for fixing my ice maker (which looks exactly like the one in your pictures). As it turned out, the only thing that needed repair was the plastic gear, which I have replaced. However, I did take the ice maker apart and tested everything else, but now I am not sure if I've correctly installed the spring for the Shutoff Arm, because the tray now fills up with ice but does not engage the the Shutoff Arm (it stays in the downward position always). If you could explain how to correctly install the spring, I would be most thankful.
Answer: A picture, even a poor one, is worth... Take a look at the first picture on this page.

The armature should tilt so the slotted part is against the side. The arm should be up and the part of the arm inside the case goes into the slot on the armature.
I hope that helps.
Also, from your message, it wasn't clear if our diagnostic helped you or if you meant that you followed the guide and it turned out to be the something not mentioned. We always like to know, so that we can make improvements. I looked at the diagnostic and I saw the ejector gear mentioned, but I want to be sure it was helpful for you.
